Detect Auto Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Welcome to the Detect Auto FAQ Guide. Below are answers to some of the most common questions our users have.

1. How do I invite users to join my shop?

To invite users:

  1. Go to the Settings page: https://ai.detectauto.com/shop-settings?tab=configurations
  2. Select the Users tab. If you don't see the Users tab, please contact your shop admin or reach out to Detect Auto support to enable access.
  3. Click Invite User in the top right corner of the screen and enter their email. Once entered, click the Invite User button. This will send an email to invite them to join the shop.

2. How can I change my billing information / manage my subscription?

To update billing or manage your subscription:

  1. Navigate to the Detect Auto billing page in your shop settings: https://ai.detectauto.com/billing. If you cannot access this page, please contact Detect Auto support..
  2. From there, you can update your payment method, select which products you would like to use, and update your billing contact information.

3. How can I check why maintenance recommendations were made based on service history?

Every recommendation includes a breakdown of the service history used:

  1. Open the Detect Auto browser extension for a specific customer's vehicle.
  2. Click on the Recs tab. Hover your mouse cursor in between the browser pop-up and the shop management software tab until a small gray bar appears. Recs Page with Gray Bars
  3. Click and drag the small gray bar to resize the extension window until the Recommendations tab combines with the History tab. Resized Recommendation Window with Service History
  4. Finally, click on any maintenance item in the list and expand the table row. If there are associated service history items, the Service History column will automatically filter to show you relevant service items. If you see any discrepancies in this list, please alert Detect Auto support so we can update your account. Filtered Service History

4. I'm an admin at my shop. Why can't I see certain settings pages inside of Detect Auto?

If you can’t see certain pages (like Users or Billing), it likely means that your Detect Auto account is not designated as an admin. Please reach out to Detect Auto support and we'd be happy to update your account status.

5. Why is my Detect Auto button gray?

The Detect Auto button appears gray when maintenance data for the customer's vehicle in question has not loaded.

  • If the button is gray for just one vehicle, try refreshing the page in the shop management software to see if that reloads the vehicle.
  • If every vehicle is gray and your shop has already completed onboarding, please reach out to Detect Auto support so we can confirm that your account has proper access settings enabled.

6. Why is my account not working when other people in my shop have access?

This is likely due to your account not being connected to your shop's account inside of Detect Auto. Reach out to your shop’s admin or contact Detect Auto support to confirm that your email address is properly connected to your shop's account. This can be verified by visiting the Users page found here: https://ai.detectauto.com/shop-settings?tab=users

7. Why do I not have a Detect Auto button on my page?

If your shop has already completed the Detect Auto onboarding process, please head to our support guide linked here for detailed instructions on how to turn on the Detect Auto button. If you have not completed onboarding, we invite you to schedule a training session with our team by booking a meeting here.

8. How can I access my shop settings page?

To access your shops settings page please select the blue "D" coming out of the right hand side of your screen and select your initials. Select "Shop settings" from the dropdown menu and you will be automatically redirected to your shop's settings.

9. Can I track if a customer performs their own maintenance on their vehicle?

Yes! To add maintenance performed by a customer, select the blue "Detect Auto" button on an open RO, open the "History" tab, and select the "+" sign in the top right hand corner. This will allow you to manually add in service history to keep your maintenance recomendations up to date. Any service history manually added will not be reported to Carfax.

10. Will linking my canned jobs up with Detect Auto affect them in Tekmetric/ Shop-Ware?

No, setting up your canned jobs in Detect Auto will not impact those in your shop management software. When you add canned jobs to your maintenance intervals within Detect Auto, you can conveniently include your most frequently used jobs on a repair order. However, using the canned jobs linked to a maintenance interval is entirely optional.
